Abstract
AIM: To investigate the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-g-coactivator–1 (PGC-1) in the liver of metabolic syndrome mice.
METHODS: Ten female C57BL/6J mice (control group) were fed a normal diet, Fifteen were fed a high fat and sugar diet (metabolic syndrome mice model), made up of 5 fed a high fat and sugar diet for 8 weeks (experimental group: A subgroup) and 10 fed the same diet for 16 weeks (experimental group: B subgroup). Abdominal fat mass, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), fasting blood glucose (FBG), insulin (INS), liver function and liver weight were measured.
