Fengfu(GV16)功能、定位及按摩方法
Course
The channel originates in the lower part of the abdomen below the umbilicus, makes its downward way through the perineum, then ascends along the middle of the spinal column, and reaches Fengfu(DU16) at the back of the neck where it enters the brain. I1 continues to ascend from Fengfu(DU16), along the midline of the head and passing the vertex, forehead, columella of the nose and the upper lip, then to Yinjiao(DU28).
The branches from this channel connect with the kidney and travel through the heart.
Fengfu(GV16)
Location: On the nape, 1 cun directly above the midpoint of the posterior hairline, directly below the external occipital protuberance, in the depression between the trapezius muscle of both sides.
Indications: Headache, neck rigidity, blurred vision, epistaxis, sore throat, post apoplectic aphasia, manic-de-pressive disorders, epilepsy.
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1cun. Deep insertion prohibited.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 inch. Deep puncture is not advisable. Medullary bulb is in the deep layer,special attention should be paid in acupuncture.
Regional anatomy
Vasculature: The branch of the occipital artery.
Innervation: The branches of the third cervical nerve and the great occipital nerve.
