AbstractAIM: To investigate the sleep quality in patients with irritable bowelsyndrome (IBS) and its relationship with the patients psychiatricsymptoms.
METHODS: The quality of sleep and psychiatric symptoms in consecutive 41patients with IBS according to Rome II criteria were measured byPittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90),respectively. In the meantime, 37 matched heath controls and 35 patientsmatched patients with peptic ulcer diseases as controls were alsoevaluated. The relationship between PSQI and psychiatric symptoms wasinvestigated by regression analysis. ......
