    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the effects of blood-activating and stasis-eliminating compound on the proliferation and apoptosis of human chronic myelocytic leukemia cell line K562 cells. METHODS: Living cells were counted by trypan-blue excluding and cell growth curve was drawn. Changes of cell morphology were observed by light and transmission electron microscopy. Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to determine cell apoptosis quantitatively. RESULTS: Chinese herbal compound inhibited the proliferation of K562 cells. The apoptosis of K562 cells was confirmed by FCM and typical ultrastructural changes. The apoptosis rate of 100 ml·L-1 drug serum was higher than that of 50 ml·L-1 drug serum (13.4%±1.3% vs 7.6%±0.9%, P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Chinese herbal compound can inhibit the proliferation of human chronic myelocytic leukemia cell line K562 cells and induce the apoptosis of K562 cells. ......
