Severe multi-drug resistance seen in genitourinary
Dr. Wang Xi, chief of department of dermatology and STD of Beijing Jiuxianqiao Hospital and his colleague warned that for the treatment of patients with non-gonorrheal infection of the genitourinary tract the agents should be selected according to the results of drug sensitivity tests and abuse of the innovated antibiotics must be avoided.
Dr. Wang Xi et al. screened out 142 samples of mycoplasma infection from specimens of over 1000 patients with STD; among them the single infectious rate of mycoplasma urealyticum (MU), and human mycoplasma (MH) were respectively 84.5 % and 6.3 %, and the mixed infection rate was 9.2 %. Drug resistance tests were carried out using the ten kinds of antibiotics: doxycyline, minocycline, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, sparfloxacin roxithromycin, miramycin, rovamycine, josamycin, spectinomycin. The results of the tests 10 hours later showed that the phenomenon of drug resistance was very serious, the multiple drug resistance rate reached 87 %, and in more than 4 kinds of antibiotics the rate of simultaneous drug resistance was 69.7 %. Approximately 5 % of the specimens exhibited drug resistance to all the new type antibiotics; especially the so-called "one bullet cure" (spectinomycin) used by the "migrating doctors" for the treatment of STD, the rate of drug resistance reached as high as 90.1 %., 百拇医药
