The studies on distribution and expression o somatostatin receptor (SSTR) and its subtype in the pituitary adenoma tissue started aboard in 1995 but the related communication had not yet been seen in domestic literature. In order to reveal the expression features of SSTR1-2 subtype in pituitary adenoma of various pathological patterns, associate professor Wang Jing et al of department of nuclear medicine, Xijing hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University using in situ hybridization, and SSTR1-2 subtype oligonucleotide labeled with radioactive nuclide as the probe, detected the expression patterns of SSTR1-2 mRNA in 29 cases of pituitary adenoma and normal pituitary gland tissues from 12 individuals.

The results revealed that SSTR1-2 subtype simultaneously expressed in the functional and the non-functional pituitary tissues with the positive rates respectively of 100 %, 79 %, 33 % and 100 %, 86 %, 25 %; among them the expression of SSTR2 was comparatively high (52 %). The result of the study showed that adenoma of the pituitary gland was able to express two kinds of SSTR, thus, there is an optimistic outlook of accepting receptor mediated growth hormone release inhibiting hormone (GIH) analog for target directed therapy., 百拇医药
