Molybdenum target x-ray guiding filament localization biopsy is at present one of the effective methods of diagnosis for the discovery of early breast cancer. Film was taken using the molybdenum target x-ray for the discovery of the suspected spot lesions of sandy calcification, where metallic guide wire could be inserted for the localization, followed by surgical removal of the breast tissue involved with the sandy calcified spot lesions for pathological diagnosis to confirm the existence of early cancerous changes.
The incidence of breast cancer has been at the first place among the malignant tumors in the female after entrance of the 21st century. Therefore, early detection of breast cancer has now become one of the important research topics in the field of medical science. Professor Xu Yuxiu of the department of surgery of the first hospital, Peking University, took the lead to invite the vice president Dr. Hersh of the American Chinese Foundation of Medical Committee to the hospital to recommend and teach the technique of molybdenum target x-ray guide filament localization, so as to facilitate the cooperation between the departments of radiology and surgery to develop the technique of early diagnosis, localization and diagnosis of breast cancer. Up to the end of 2001, 8 cases of localization biopsy were completed with molybdenum target x-ray guide filament localization; 2 cases among them were breast cancer of the zero period (mass formation not yet found, without the need of radical surgery and curable with local radiotherapy)., http://www.100md.com
