【Abstract】 AIM: To evaluate the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance (MR) perfusion weighted imaging (PWI) in cerebral gliomas. METHODS: Conventional MRI and PWI were performed in 26 patients with histologically confirmed gliomas. The perfusion data were processed to obtain a color map of cerebral blood volume (CBV) and the maximal relative CBV (rCBV) of each lesion was computed with a nondiffusible tracer model. RESULTS: The maximal rCBV in lowgrade gliomas varied from 0.72 to 4.26, with a mean of (2.10±1.18), and in the highgrade cohort varied from 0.89 to 10.02, with a mean of (5.23±1.86). This difference in maximal rCBV between two groups was statistically significant (P<0.01; Student t test). CONCLUSION: MR perfusion weighted imaging is useful in the preoperative assessment of tumor grade and in providing vascular information, which can not be obtained by conventional MR imaging. ......
