【Abstract】 AIM: To test the effects of negative pressure on the granulation tissue formation in pig wound model. METHODS: Five pigs were selected for this study and four full thickness wound defects were produced on the dorsum of each animal. A 16 kPa negative pressure was applied continuously on the wounds in the experimental group for 10 d and the saline wettomoist dressing was used as the control. Changes in each wound were assessed in every two days. RESULTS: Wounds treated with 16 kPa negative pressure were filled with granulation tissue 52% faster than the saline wettomoist dressing treated wounds. CONCLUSION: The 16 kPa negative pressure can significantly increase the rate of granulation tissue formation compared with the wounds treated by conventional methods. ......
