Protective effects of total flavones of buckwheat flower on experimental cardiac hypertrophy in rats

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To study the protective effects of total flavones of buckwheat flower (TFBF) on isoproterenol (ISO)ª²induced experimental cardiac hypertrophy and its mechanism. METHODS: Cardiac hypertrophy models of rats were induced by injection of ISO [5 mg/(kg¡¤d) ] for 14 days, during which the rats were given TFBF ig [0.05 mg/ (kg¡¤d)], [0.1 mg/(kg¡¤d)] and [0.2 mg/(kg¡¤d)]. The cardiac indexes, the content of RNA, Ang¢ò and MDA, the activity of SOD in heart and the levels of LDH and CK in serum were measured. RESULTS: TFBF obviously decreased heart mass, shortened the myofibril diameter, decreased RNA, Ang¢ò and MDA concentration, increased the ventricular SOD activity and inhibited the LDH and CK activity in serum. CONCLUSION: TFBF has some protective effects on ISOª²induced cardiac hypertrophy in rats. ......
