【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effects of sodium salicylate on the expression of NGB mRNA and protein in inferior colliculus neurons in mice. METHODS: Fortyeight Kunming mice were divided into four groups: control group (A) [200 mg/(kg·d)], [300 mg/(kg·d)], and [450 mg/(kg·d)] sodium salicylate administrated groups (B, C, D). The expression of NGB mRNA was measured by using RTPCR and the protein expression of NGB was measured by WesternBlot. RESULTS: The expression of NGB mRNA in control group increased remarkably than that in the other three sodium salicylate administrated groups (group B, C, D)(P<0.01). The expression of NGB mRNA was the lowest in group D and the highest in group B among group B, C and D, with significant difference between group C and D (P<0.05). NGB protein with relative molecular mass 17 000 was observed in all groups by WesternBlot. The protein expression in group A was significantly higher than that in the other 3 sodium salicylate administrated groups. The protein expression of B group was the highest in group B and the lowest in group D in the three sodium salicylate administrated groups. CONCLUSION: Administration of sodium salicylate can decrease the expression of NGB mRNA and protein in inferior collicuLus neurons of mice and these changes are related to the dosage of sodium salicylate. ......
