Construction and application value of Microsoft Access 2000 database of hepatocellular carcinoma

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To construct a database using Microsoft Access 2000, in which clinical information of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cases can be loaded and to investigate its application values. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted in 936 cases of HCC at ZhuJiang Hospital from January 1993 to December 2003. The Diagnosing and Staging National Standards for hepatocellular carcinoma was followed. RESULTS: A Microsoft Access 2000 database consisting of 936 HCC cases was established in 4 months, designated as the Specialized Microsoft Access Database of HCC. The database system was successfully constructed and operated smoothly, which possessed powerful capacity of information processing of HCC case record. CONCLUSION: Microsoft Access 2000 is simple and practical in the construction of HCC database, which is beneficial not only to information management of case record but also to clinical, teaching and research work. ......
