【Abstract】 AIM: To seek a singlesource drive pattern which is more suitable for brain electrical impedance tomography (EIT). METHODS: In accordance with the characteristics of brain resistivity distribution and data acquisition system, we compared adjacent, cross, polar and newly proposed quasipolar drive patterns of dynamic range, number of independent measurement, total marginal voltage changes and antinoise performance in an equivalent circuit model of the brain resistivity distribution consisting of 7300odd resistors. RESULTS: The quasipolar drive pattern was optimal in all aspects except the dynamic range. Polar and cross drive patterns and adjacent drive pattern followed in a descending order. CONCLUSION: The quasipolar drive pattern is the most suitable pattern for brain EIT. ......
