Factors impacting on social adaptability of undergraduates in city of Xian

    【Abstract】 AIM: To analyze the factors impacting on the social adaptability of different types of undergraduates in Xian. METHODS: A total of 584 freshmen from 4 colleges in the city of Xian were surveyed by General WellBeing Scale. Their personal information, such as hometown, type of their colleges, gender and their personality were registered and evaluated. The data were analyzed by univariate analysis of variance. RESULTS: The general wellbeing of the subjects tested was 75.21±12.95, not significantly different from that reported of American undergraduates and undergraduates in Jiangxi Province of China (P>0.05). It was not the demographic characteristics but the traits of personality such as psychoticism, extroversion and neuroticism that were significant influencing factors of social adaptability and the significant differences in general wellbeing came from the interaction between psychoticism and extroversion (P<0.01, R2=41.1%).
