Clinical analysis of transrectal ultrasound prostate biopsy (report of 203 cases)

    ABSTRACT: Objective To evaluate the clinical diagnosis and differentiative diagnosis of transrectal ultrasound guided prostatic biopsies utilized to detect prostate cancer (PCa) and other prostatic diseases. Methods Transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy was performed on 203 patients whose digital rectal examination showed positive results, serum PSA>4 pg/L, and transrectal ultrasound results showed suspected abnormalities. Results The results showed 104 cases (51.24%) of benige prostate hyperplasia(BPH), 95(46.80%) prostate cancer(PCa), 2 (0.98%) tuberculosis (TB) and 2 (0.98%) sarcoma. Conclusion Biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound is convenient and safe, at the same time, patients suffer less and have few complications. It can be widely used in clinical diagnosis and differentative diagnosis of protate diseases. ......
