Application value of 18Fª²FDG PET in followingª²up of postª²treatment patients with gastric and esophageal carcinoma

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To evaluate the application value of PET imaging in the followingª²up of postª²treatment patients with gastric and esophageal carcinoma. METHODS: General PET scans were performed in 38 cases of postª²treatment patients with gastric and esophageal carcinoma. The pictures were analyzed by standard uptake value (SUV) and naked eyes. RESULTS: Of the 14 cases of gastric carcinoma, no abnormality was observed in 6 cases and recurrence or metastasis of different degrees was found in 8 cases. Of the 24 cases of esophageal carcinoma, no abnormality was seen in 4 cases and recurrence or metastasis of different degrees was found in 20 cases. CONCLUSION: 18Fª²FDG PET scans are very valuable in the followingª²up of postª²treatment patients with gastric and esophageal carcinoma. For patients with recurrence or metastasis, the results of PET scans are very helpful in making proper reª²treatment regimen. ......
