Effect on endothelium regeneration and platelet activation after implantation of TAXUSTM stent

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To evaluate the effect on endothelium regeneration and platelet activation after implantation of TAXUSTM stent. METHODS: TAXUSTM stent and NIR stent were implanted respectively in the same artery in 3 dogs. Thirty days after the implantation of stents, the target vessels were ablated after angiography and observed by scanning electron microscope. RESULTS: The target vessels with TAXUSTM stent were not intact, covered with endothelium and platelet activation was observed. The target vessels of NIR stent were intact, covered with endothelium and no platelet activation was observed. CONCLUSION: Endothelium regeneration after the implantation of TAXUSTM stent is much slower than that after the implantation of bare mental stents. Intensive antiª²platelet therapy should be considered after the implantation of drug eluting stents. ......
