     Apaf1 expression in hippocampus after traumatic brain injury in rats

    【Abstract】 AIM: To study the mechanism of nerve cell apoptosis after traumatic brain injury (TBI) .METHODS: The model of severe closed traumatic brain injury was used and the expression of Apaf1 in hippocampus was dynamically observed in rats after TBI by means of immunohistochemistry.RESULTS: The expression of Apaf1 was not found in the hippocampus in both sham operation group and normal control group.The expression of p53 protein was found in the area of CA2 in hippocampus at 6 h (A=0.047 0.008) after TBI in rats.The expression reached the peak at 24 h (A=0.182 0.028)and decreased at 48 h.(A=0.121 0.016)CONCLUSION: The increased expression of Apaf 1 may lead to nerve cell apoptosis after TBI.
