CLINICAL STUDY OF 221 CASES OF LAPAROSCOPIC-ASSISTED RADICAL RESECTION OF COLORECTAL CARCINOMA
(Department of General Surgery, The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College, Qingdao 266003, China)[ABSTRACT]ObjectiveTo study the clinical effects of radical laparoscopic resection of colorectal cancer in 221 cases. MethodsThis study included 221 colorectal carcinoma patients who had received laparoscopic resection. The duration of the proce-dures, blood loss, complications, lymph nodes harvested, recovery time of bowel function, hospital stay, local recurrence and dis-tant metastases were recorded. ResultsThe operation was performed successfully in all the 221 patients while conversion to open was taken in 16 cases. The mean operating time was 156.4 minutes and blood loss was 50-200 mL. The average length of bowel function recovery and hospitalization were 32.5 hours and 8.1 days, respectively. Conclusion The laparoscopic colorectal sur-gery is applicable, the advantages of which lie in small incisions, quick recovery, little disturbance of the stomach and bowel, little postoperative pain, and small scar.
