    Origin:

    Mung bean is the seed of Phaseolus radiatus L., Phaseolus abyssinicus Savi, Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek var. sublobata (Roxb.), or Azukia radiata (L.) Ohwi, an annual herb, of the Leguminosae family. It is grown in cultivated grassland throughout the world.

    In China, mung bean is grown in most areas. It is harvested at the end of autumn when the seed ripens. Mung bean sprouts are made by soaking mung beans in water until they sprout. Mung bean sprouts are cultivated in mass for food and diet.

    Also known as Green Bean Sprouts.
