    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To evaluate the inhibitive effects of Astragalus and Thoroughfare decoction against hepatitis B virus(HBV) in vitro. METHODS: HepG2.2.15 cells, as target cells, were exposed to different concentrations of Interferon ¦Á (IFN¦Á) or Astragalus and Thoroughfare decoction respectively. Realª²time PCR was applied to quantify extracellular HBV DNA and enzymeª²linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to assess HBsAg and HBeAg. RESULTS: The 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) of Astragalus and Thoroughfare decoction against HBsAg, HBeAg, and extracellular HBV DNA was 1.35, 1.92 and 2.19 g/L respectively, and treatment index (TI)>3.56-5.79. ¦Áª²IFN had weak inhibitory effects against HBV. CONCLUSION: Astragalus and Thoroughfare decoction can inhibit HBV replication in vitro to some extent. ......
