    Abstract

    AIM: To investigate the expression of morphogene Sonic hedgehog (Shh), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) in gastric epithelium of mongolian gerbils after H pylori inoculation and their correlations with the pathologic changes of Helicobacter pylori related gastritis.

    METHODS: A total of 50 male mongolian gerbils were inoculated with H pylori and another 50 gerbils served as controls. The levels of Shh, IL-1β and TNF-a mRNA expression were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and the level of Shh protein expression was examined by immunohistochemistry 4, 12, 24, 36 and 48 weeks after inoculation.
