     VEGF and bFGF induced differentiation of mononuclear cells from human umbilical cord blood into endothelial progenitor cells in vitro

    【Abstract】 AIM: To research a way for mononuclear cells from human umbilical cord blood in vitro to be differentiated into endothelial progenitor cells under the induction of VEGF and bFGF. METHODS: The mononuclear cells were obtained from human umbilical cord blood by Ficoll densitygradient centrifugation. The cells were suspended in medium 199(M199) supplemented with VEGF, bFGF for culture, differentiation, proliferation and identification. The expressions of specific antigens on cell surface were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. RESULTS: The mononuclear cells from human peripheral blood which were cultured and induced in vitro by VEGF and bFGF were positive for KDR, CD1133 and CD34. CONCLUSION: Mononuclear cells from human umbilical cord blood can be induced to differentiate into endothelial progenitor cells in vitro under certain condition. ......
