Expressions of ezrin, cª²Met and ICAMª²1 proteins in gastric carcinoma and their significances

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿AIM: To study the expressions and clinical significances of ezrin, cª²Met and ICAMª²1 proteins in gastric carcinoma. METHODS: The expressions of ezrin, cª²Met and ICAMª²1 proteins were detected by immunohistochemistry in normal gastric mucosa (n=15), atypical gastric hyperplasia (n=50) and gastric carcinoma (n=75). RESULTS: The positive expression rates of ezrin and cª²Met proteins in normal gastric mucosa, gastric hyperplasia and gastric carcinoma were gradually decreased, and statistical difference among the 3 groups was significant (¦Ö2=33.319, P<0.001; ¦Ö2=19.913, P<0.001); the positive expression rate of ICAMª²1 protein was gradually increased with significant statistical difference (¦Ö2=16.409, P<0.001). The expressions of ezrin, cª²Met and ICAMª²1 proteins were related to the malignant progression of gastric carcinoma, tumor diameter and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), but not correlated with patient¬ðs age, gender and vessel invasion (P>0.05). In addition, the expression of ezrin protein was positively correlated with that of cª²Met protein (r=0.880, P<0.05), but negatively correlated with that of ICAMª²1 protein (r=-0.735, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The loss of ezrin and cª²Met expressions and the overª²expression of ICAMª²1 protein play an important role in the development of gastric carcinoma. ......
