Clinical analysis of erectile disfunction and sex transmitted disease

    ABSTRACT: Objective To determine the relationship between erectile disfunction and sex transmitted diseases. Methods The clinical data of 4521 male patients with STD during 1995/1 to 2005/1 were analyzed retrospectively and the causes of ED were demonstrated. Results Before treatment, ED occurred in 3259 cases (72.1%) of STD patients. Most of the patients were aged between 20 to 40 years, and the degree of ED was correlated closely with age, disease process, complication, and psychological stress (P<0.01). After treatment, there were still 357 cases of ED. Conclusion ED occurred frequently in the STD patients who did not receive routine treatment for a long term because of worsening symptom and psychological stress. After the cure of STD, ED disappeared in most patients, but it might not be cured in some cases caused by psychologic or organic factors. ......
