     The expression of apoptosis related gene survivin and Caspase3 mRNA in bladder transitional cell carcinoma

    ABSTRACT:Objective To evaluate the expression of survivin and Caspase3 mRNA in the occurrence and progress of bladder transitional cell cancer (BTCC). Methods The expressions of survivin and Caspase3 mRNA were detected by RTPCR and the clinical data were analyzed. Results Survivin mRNA was detected in 31 of the 33 cases of BTCC and none in the control group had detectable survivin mRNA. There was significant difference between the two groups. 27 of the 33 cases had detectable Caspase3 mRNA, but there was no significant difference compared with the control group (81.8% vs. 80%). Survivin mRNA had a more intense expression in grade Ⅲ than in grade I of BTCC (P<0.05). The expressions of survivin and Caspase3 mRNA were not related to the tumor stage. Conclusion Survivin mRNA expresses specifically in BTCC. The upregulation of survivin mRNA may suggest a poor differentiation of BTCC. The block of survivin mRNA may contribute a new approach to the therapy of bladder cancer. ......
