read their minds。
Learning a foreign language is learning another culture。
The
Simpsons(辛普森一家);寓意深远的美国年代剧Mad Men(广告狂
剧迷们欲罢不能的Desperate Housewives(绝望的主妇);灵魂挣扎于正
人动画片South Park(南方公园)。
Knowledge is pretty thin stuff
unless mixed with experience.(知识是稀薄的,若不与实践结合在一起,那只不过是抽象的一种空洞形式而已。)

Monica:
Shut up, and put my table back.
Whose little ball of paper is this?!
You wanna be in charge of the food committee?
Look, I'm sorry, guys. I just don't wanna give them any more ammunition
than they already have.
I'm a laundry virgin.

I am over you, Ross.
Ross,
I don't wanna know what Monica got me. You know? I mean, look, I'm sure she worked really hard at getting me a present, and wanting to surprise me. I wanna see the look on Monica's
face when I give her my present, and I'm sure she wants to see the look on
my face when I get mine.

Phoebe: Oh, I wish I could, but I don't want to.
Ooh, I just pulled out four eyelashes. That can't be good.
(in the wedding) In my whole life, I've been looking for a family. Today, I'm
standing here. I know that I have it. You are my family. I love you...
(singing) Love is sweet as summer showers, love is a wondrous work of art,but your love, oh your love... is like a giant pigeon... crapping on my heart.
02 Seinfeld《
(A salesman selling wheelchair)
This is our best model, the Cougar 9000. It's the Rolls-Royce of wheelchairs.
This is like you're almost glad to be handicapped.
Oh, these eggs are disgusting. This chicken should be ashamed of herself.
Time to make a toast—here's to those who wish us well, and
who don't can go to hell!
This woman hates me so much; I'm starting to like her.
I don't want hope. Hope is killing me. My dream is to become hopeless.
When you're hopeless you don't care. And when you don't care, that
indifference makes you attractive. So hopelessness is the key. Hopelessness
is my only hope.
03 The Simpsons《
(Homer's idea of making emergency money)
All right, let's not panic. I'll make the money by selling one of
my livers. I can get by with one.
(Homer's philosophy on failure)
Trying is the first step towards failure.
(Mocking the American government) Hello, I'm Tom Hanks. The US
Government has lost its credibility so it's borrowing some of mine.(讽刺美国政府)大家好,我是Tom Hanks。
(Madison
Stable is that step backwards between successful and failing.
Family is the wellspring of your confidence!
It is so simple when it's someone else's life.
There is a shadow over everything.
05 Grey's Anatomy《
Knight(T. R.奈特)
Sometimes, reality has a way of sneaking up and biting us in
the ass... and when the dam bursts, all you can do is swim. The
world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. We can only lie to
ourselves for so long. We are tired. We are scared. Denying it doesn't change
the truth. Sooner or later, we have to put aside our denial and face the world
head-on, guns blazing. Denial... it's not just a river in Egypt. It's a freaking
ocean.
Pain—you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its
own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no
solutions, no easy answers. You just breathe deep and wait for
it to subside. Most of the time, pain can be managed. But sometimes, the pain
gets you when you least expect it... hits you way below the belt and doesn't
let up. Pain—you just have to fight through because the truth is, you can't
outrun it and life always makes more.
In the hospital, we see addiction every day. It's shocking how many kinds of
addiction exist. It would be too easy if there is just drugs and alcohol and
cigarettes. I think the hardest part of kicking a habit is wanting to kick it. I
mean we get addicted for a reason, right? Often, too often, things that start
out just as a normal part of your life, at some point, cross the line, too
obsessive, compulsive, out of control. It's just the high we are chasing, the
high that makes everything else fade away. The thing about addiction is that
never ends well. Because eventually, whatever it is that was getting us high, stops feeling good and starts to hurt. Still, they say you don't kick the habit
until you hit the rock bottom. But how do you know when you were there?Because no matter how badly a thing was hurting us, sometimes letting it go
hurts even worse.
06 Desperate Housewives《
Gabrielle。
And everyone on Wisteria Lane thought of Bree as the perfect
wife and mother. Everyone, that is, except her own family.
It's so easy to spot the lonely ones. They're the people who tell
stories to their plants, and whisper secrets to their pets, and
have arguments with their TVs.
The world is filled with unlikely friendships. How did they begin, with one
person desperately in need and another willing to lend a helping hand.
Everyone wears some kind of mask, so you must look closely
to find the truth that lies beneath.
Even the most desperate life is oh... so wonderful. But only a
lucky few realize the gift they've been given.
07 Breaking Bad《
Don't think so hard. It's gonna hurt your brain.
I am awake.
I have spent my whole life scared, frightened of things that could happen, might happen, might not happen, 50 years I spent like that. Finding myself
awake at 3 in the morning, but you know what? Ever since my diagnosis… I
sleep just fine. l came to realize, it's the fear that's the worst of it. That's the
real enemy. So… get up, get out in the real world. And you kick that bastard
as hard as you can. Right in the teeth.
08 House of Cards《
(South

Maintain your composure and your confidence,就是说在练习口语时
Multiply the principles in key
sentences and long passages,也就是将发音要诀的运用从独立的单词扩
当然,It's easier said than done,要记住“不积跬步,无以至千里;
I bet you can master American English pronunciation with the help of
my “M7”. So just do it, and enjoy the fantastic American dramas!Chapter 2

MineAchilles, the hero of Homer's Iliad, is the son of Peleus and Thetis and
slayer of Hector. The legend of Achilles has it that he was dipped into the
river Styx by his mother in order to make him invulnerable. His heel wasn't
covered by the water and he was later killed by an arrow wound to his heel.
Achilles(阿喀琉斯)是荷马史诗Iliad(《伊利亚特》)中的英

alley[??li]
alley: something compatible with one's interest or qualification合某人的
Multiply
· An alley is a narrow street or passageway between or
(right) up one's alley
(right) down one's alley
例 Bowling is right up my alley.
For William, car racing is right down his alley.
I tried to convince my brother to stop doing this Turkish-restaurant
business because it's a blind alley.
Mine
I know my alleys here means “I know what I'm doing.” This usage is
from the idiom “updown one's alley.” If something is up my alley, it means
“I am very familiar with it.” We're familiar with the place where we live, the
alleys, streets, roads, off-road tracks... Therefore, “knowing one's alleys”
equals “knowing something well.”
I know my alleys
updown one's alley,当我们说某事up my alley,意思是说我们对它很熟

read their minds。
Learning a foreign language is learning another culture。
The
Simpsons(辛普森一家);寓意深远的美国年代剧Mad Men(广告狂
剧迷们欲罢不能的Desperate Housewives(绝望的主妇);灵魂挣扎于正
人动画片South Park(南方公园)。
Knowledge is pretty thin stuff
unless mixed with experience.(知识是稀薄的,若不与实践结合在一起,那只不过是抽象的一种空洞形式而已。)

Shut up, and put my table back.

You wanna be in charge of the food committee?

I don't wanna know what Monica got me. You know? I mean, look, I'm sure she worked really hard at getting me a present, and wanting to surprise me. I wanna see the look on Monica's
face when I give her my present, and I'm sure she wants to see the look on
my face when I get mine.

02 Seinfeld《

I don't want hope. Hope is killing me. My dream is to become hopeless.
When you're hopeless you don't care. And when you don't care, that
indifference makes you attractive. So hopelessness is the key. Hopelessness
is my only hope.

my livers. I can get by with one.

Maintain your composure and your confidence,就是说在练习口语时
Multiply the principles in key
sentences and long passages,也就是将发音要诀的运用从独立的单词扩
当然,It's easier said than done,要记住“不积跬步,无以至千里;
I bet you can master American English pronunciation with the help of
my “M7”. So just do it, and enjoy the fantastic American dramas!Chapter 2

Do you believe it? The donut ranger gave me a ticket for driving
too slowly!

了特洛伊王子Hector(赫克托耳)。

alley[??li]
alley: something compatible with one's interest or qualification合某人的
