    1. The Birth of Major League Baseball

    大联盟的诞生

    Major League Baseball has a history of over 100 years.

    It began in 1876 when The National League (NL) was established. The American League (AL) was elevated from the Minor League in 1900 to join the Major League.

    The Major League's current divisions were formed in 1986. At that time both the NL and the AL were divided into an Eastern Division, a Central Division and a Western Division. New teams successively joined the Major League, blending veterans of many years experience with novices eager to take the World Series Ring back home. From the start of 1998, Major League Baseball included 30 teams. (Note: Many teams have changed their names and relocated, the dates of establishment given here are traced back to the original founding date.)
