     One of the most fascinating regional dialects of English is that which is spoken by the inhabitants of the southern states of the U.S.A. Southern English is very expressive and rich in imagery. It is no wonder that a great number of America's most famous wordsmiths, such as Mark Twain and William Faulkner, hail from the South. If you ever have the chance to hear it you will immediately get the impression that, in the South, conversation is not merely a means to convey information, but an art in itself, to be practiced and enjoyed.
