    Suicide pacts continue to bewilder Japanese authorities

    Seven suicides resulted after pacts made in internet chatrooms in Japan last month brings the total number of suicide pact deaths this year to twenty. The figure for last year was 55. Although this type of suicide accounts for only 2% of Japan's total, it has been causing some concern for the authorities. Alienated youngsters who leave school with few qualifications and no long-term job prospects are most vulnerable.
