Changing Times

    The big news for winter fashion is that fur is back, and back in a BIG way. If there was a connecting theme in all the winter fashion shows this year, it was fur. Fashion houses everywhere paraded models wearing fur. There was fur trim on everything from hats to shoes, underwear to sweaters.

    I remember a time, not so long ago, when wearing fur was a major faux-pas. The major stars and supermodels of the time were splashed, naked, on billboards everywhere with the slogan "I'd rather wear nothing than wear fur". It was very eye-catching, and it did the job - wearing fur became totally socially unacceptable. Those caught wearing fur were very likely to be verbally abused and in some extreme cases, have red paint ①pelted at them and the offending fur item. But how times have changed, and now, the same stars and models, who were so passionately anti-fur, can be seen strutting around red carpet events covered in the stuff; proof that there's truth in the saying "fashion is fickle". ......
