The sky began to be clear up a bit when we left St Gallen abbey and library. With the appearance of mild sunshine and the bright colored houses and in the atmosphere of the country side, the historical burden of St Gallen was gradually left behind. I began to do a bit of shopping.

After having a cheap but fantastic lunch at a small restaurant, we went to a brewery to see the making of a famous herbal tea, Appenzel Alpenbitter. A slender lady with black-framed glasses proudly introduced in detail its history and brewing process and took us to every workshop. Dragging us to the herb dispensing room with excitement, she stressed that this room should not be missed and that just smelling the herbs is good for your health. Made from 42 kinds of herbs, the old Appenzeller is indeed complicated in composition. Only several people know the key recipe. Visiting the tasting room full of beautiful drinks, the lady, still with great ardor, entertained us hospitably. After sipping a little Appenzeller, the aftertaste stayed for a long time. ......
