This deconstruction is not only relevant in Juno's own situation, with an out-of-wedlock pregnancy compounded by her also giving up the child, but is a theme that runs throughout many of the characters' relationships. Juno's parents, for instance, are far from what most would consider ideal: Juno's mother abandons her at a young age and she is raised by her father, who is remarried to a step-mother that is not evil, as first impulse and genre convention might suggest; she is in fact extremely supportive and gets along well with her step-daughter. ......
