奇怪的是这一天大街上的人很少。这不是我所预期或是希望中的节日气氛。而关于观看开幕式的地点也有争议。一些人想去国家体育场(鸟巢)，而另一些人听从别人建议避开鸟巢，前往城市的大屏幕观看开幕式。我们在宿舍不远处找到了一个不错的观看地点——雍和宫附近的地坛公园。

    The journey to the screens in the park was again strangely quiet. There were not the crowds on the subway we had anticipated and there were relatively small groups heading towards the big screen in the park. When we arrived at the parks' center there were around 2,000 people in front of the big screens. The space in which people could congregate around the screens was rather small but elaborately decorated with lights and flower beds.
