“绯闻”在英语中一般用affair、gossip或 scandal来表达，但是程度不一，affair 一般指恋爱事件，而闹大的affair 广义就是 scandal(丑闻)，含有贬义，而sex scandal 可以用来表示“桃色新闻”；gossip，“流言飞语”，与“谣言(rumor)”意思更贴近。

    而“娱乐八卦”可用entertainment gossip表示，例如：

    This magazine covers not only the latest celebrity gossip but also all the general entertainment news.

    这本杂志不仅报道最新的名人八卦，还包括所有大众娱乐八卦。

    而八卦精神之最非狗仔队莫属了，“狗仔队”在英语中是paparazzo，复数是paparazzi，指专门缠着名人偷拍照片的摄影师。

    如果要表达你听到的是小道消息，则可以用through the grapevine，如：

    I don't always believe what I get through the grapevine, but it's true at least half the time.
