This charming, bizarre TV series, which ran for nine episodes earlier this year before being cut short by the writer's strike, has just started its second season, and the first is now available on DVD. Described as a "forensic fairy tale" by its creator, the show tells the story of Ned (Lee Case), a young pie-maker with a remarkable gift – he can bring the dead back to life. But, also, only for 60 seconds without consequence; after that something else nearby must die in order for the newly revived to stay alive. After a young Ned revives his dog, Digby, after he's hit by a truck, a nearby squirrel falls dead as a result – and when he resurrects his mother, his little neighbour girlfriend's father dies. What's worse, Ned can never touch the newly revived again or, like his mother when she gives him a goodnight kiss, they will drop dead again.
