    【摘要】水红花子为临床常用药，最早见于《名医别录》。水红花子的原植物荭草属于蓼科植物的一种，与蓼科植物其他品种形态、功用相似，导致古代荭草与蓼、水红花子与蓼实之间关系复杂，临床上长期存在混淆或混用。文章通过查阅历代本草医籍文献，以考证水红花子的性味、功能、主治等内容，另收集古代关于水红花子的验方、医案，为临床应用水红花子提供有用的参考。
