2 等值翻译在中医典籍翻译中的应用技巧

    2.1 文章意义等值——翻译的首要任务

    由于中医学经典文集绝大多数使用古代文言文，一般用词造句极其精练，因此翻译中医典籍首先需要对中国古代文言文和中医学有较深的功底。另外，英语与汉语属于两个差异非常之大的语言体系，在语法结构、修辞文法等方面都难以实现译文和原著的绝对等值[8-9]。因此在中医典籍的翻译工作中想做到译文与原著在各个方面都完全等值是相当困难的，这时我们只能退而求其次，力求使译文与中医典籍原著在内容所表述的意义上等值。以《黄帝内经》中《素问》的节选内容为例：

    原文：昔在黃帝，生而神灵，弱而能言，幼而徇齐，长而敦敏，成而登天。

    译文：In ancient times when the Yellow Emperor was born he has endowed with divine talents； while yet in early infancy he could speak； while still very young he was quick of apprehension and penetrating； when he grew up he was sincere and comprehending； when he became perfect he ascended to Heaven (the throne).

    《黄帝内经》流传至今影响深远 ......
