[摘要] 科主任是医院科室学科带头人，同时又是科室的行政管理者。本文阐述了新时期医院科主任的新内涵和应具备的新能力，最后从学科发展战略背景下提出科主任管理水平的提升策略，包括科主任要重视学习管理、要充分尊重科主任的管理权、给科主任配个“管理小助手”、提供决策支持系统、规范科主任选拔准入、建立有效的激励约束机制。
