Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the changes in computed tomography perfusion(CTP)in patients with varying degrees of high-altitude polycythemia(HAPC)using a multidetector CT(MDCT).

Results:The changes of CBV,CBF,and MTT in the basal ganglia area of the control group were 43.87±7.89,3.21±0.48,and 5.00±0.98,respectively,compared to changes of 38.18±5.25,3.82±0.45,and 6.53±1.29 in patients with mild, moderate and severe HAPC(P=0.007,0.013,0.002).
Conclusions:Patients with different degrees of HAPC had lower perfusion changes than healthy volunteers. The amount of perfusion in basal ganglia area decreased with increasing severity of disease.
